Owner & Guide

Greetings traveller! I’m Rune Krogh, a professional certified IPGA Guide (International polar Guides Association) with only 24 in the world.

For over 30 years I’ve been discovering the untamed beauty of the Nordland region, where I live with a family of 3 and 30 husky dogs in the beautiful Norwegian countryside just above the arctic circle.

During my professional career I’ve worked as a guide for Børge Ousland, the top contemporary Norwegian polar explorer and helped guide people to the North Pole, Northwest Passage, on Svalbard, across Finnmark, Svartisen glacier and Greenland crossing in the fall three times, going east to west such as Nansen did in 1888. I also led groups across Norway during many winter expeditions. One of my most memorable trips was crossing Norway with my one-year-old daughter, going west to east.

I’m an educated specialist in rope rescue services with the highest level of rope access available (Level A-3 Supervisor) and 13 years of experience climbing the Norwegian oil rigs.

I’m also an educated welding inspector specialist with many certificates in NDT. I have worked as a foreman, safety leader, inspection planner, coordinating teams offshore with over 20 oil rigs on my CV. During years of practice I’ve had tons of adventures with dog-sledding, climbing, mountaineering, and vertical extreme caving, which I now want to share with you!

Our Beyond Limits team can organize almost any activities adapted to your needs. We offer unforgettable Norway crossing trek from East to West, as well as mountaineering, climbing, ice climbing, and summit traverses, arctic kayaking and so much more. I always do my best to deliver amazing experience tailored to fit your limits.

Because once you accept your limits, you can go beyond them!

Animals & Guide

Animals, nature and traveling were always inseparably connected with each other. At first it is difficult to describe this very special relationship that connects humans and animals. It is based on trust, friendship, cooperation and balance. Each guide communicates with his dog sledge using commands which are understandable only for them. In wild regions human needs his animal friends as much as they need him. Thanks to this dependence for centuries, man and dogs lived together in the far North and both benefited from this mutual cooperation.

Today our family counts 30 dogs, which we know from a puppy. Together with them, we cross the Nordlands and Svartisen glaciers in winter with special customized sleds, and in the summer we traverse the peaks in the company of dogs carrying backpacks. There is something magical in that bond that you share with animals and today we invite you to try it yourself!

Nature & Landscapes

Nordland is one of the last truly wild, beautiful and unique regions of the world, it is often called Norway’s biggest hidden diamond. We’re happy to be able to call it our home. Here north of the polar circle, we live among mountains that consist of marble, and the ice age is still here. We call it Svartisen, Norway’s second largest glacier as well as the most easy accessible in the northern Europe. Amazing powers of nature has carved out various of holes and shapes and huge caves that are over 250 km long. On the top is Svartisen glacier, calving huge ice bergs down to the vast lake which we can paddle around.

This varied landscape will let you climb down into hidden caves, observe water streams disappearing into the ground and suddenly popping out 100 meters further down. Imagine your self standing on top of Svartisen glacier, the contrast between the glacier in winter-land and looking down at the blue fjords over 1000 meters below in summer-time is an unforgettable picture itself. We want to invite You to see it with your own eyes.

We transfer you to a world of beautiful nature, animals and unique adventures
